EFFECT OF A LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILM SPACER ON SURFACE-ENHANCED RAMAN-SCATTERING

摘要
The electromagnetic enhancement mechanisms of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is examined by using Langmuir-Blodgett films as molecule-metal spacers for the first time. In our experiments SERS from pyridine is monitored as a function of spacer thickness. The experimental results in silver films/LB films/pyridine + KCL + H2O systems exhibit that the SERS effect is still present with 5 nm, and no Raman-scattering intensity is observed with 15 nm spacer thickness. The experiments support electromagnetic enhancement mechanisms.
