摘要
The paper presents a new probabilistic stress-criterion of brittle fracture of cemented carbides as tool materials. The criterion is derived by superimposing the Weibull's probability distribution upon the triaxial stress criterion of brittle fracture due to B. Paul. The criterion can be determined from fracture tests of carbide materials stressed in compression and bending. The criterion thus determined has proven to fit well the results of torsional tests with or without axial compressive load.
