CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CRITICAL STATE OF MEMBRANES IN ED-DESALINATION OF MILK WHEY

摘要
The effect of structure of membranes on the desalination process of milk whey by electrodialysis and their changes in long-term desalination have been investigated. Electrochemical and physicochemical properties of each membrane in the stack were examined at the moment of a steep drop in the efficiency of the process. The effect of sorption of milk whey components in the membranes on the change in their transport properties is demonstrated. Asymmetry in the sorption of ionic milk whey components in the membrane stack has been ascertained and proved to be related with the electric resistance and permselectivity of the membranes.
