OBSERVATION OF TWINNING IN DIAMOND CVD FILMS

摘要
Diamond particles prepared by DC-glow-discharge enhanced HF-CVD hybrid method, from a mixture of acetone vapour and hydrogen gas have been examined by TEM, RHEED and dark field method of observation. Results suggest the presence of twinned diamond particles, which can be reconstructed by a sequence of twinning operations. Contrary to the "stick model" of the lattice, very common five-fold symmetry of diamond microcrystals may be obtained by applying a number of edge dislocations rather than the continuous deformation of many tetrahedral C-C bonds.
