摘要：

Basic literature on Social Support, chronic Mental Disorders and Schizophrenia is reviewed. A sample of 41 schizophrenic patients with a RDC and DSM-III-R diagnosis of Schizophrenia is investigated, with The Mannheim Interview for Social Support, in order to analyse the patients social map, the network size, and the types and sources of Social and Psychological Support, in crisis and everyday situations. Acute and Subacute versus Chronic subtypes, and kin versus non-kin Networks are compared. Our sample is as well compared with other published data, investigated with the same methodology. Social Networks size in schizophrenic patients is small and non-functional, being chronicity the most negative influencing factor.
