INSECTICIDE BAITS TO KILL THE HOUSEFLY (MUSCA-DOMESTICA L)

To control the housefly, as well as the blow fly, the green bottle fly and Drosophilia, in the housing and auxilliary premises for cattle, pigs and furskin animals, the following insecticides were tested: Coopex 25 WP and Cymbush DP in bait form with an admixture of sugar powder and 1 to 3 % amyline (active ingredient concentration from 0.5 % to 10 %), Elcrom 3 powder (active ingredient concentration 2.7 %), and Alfacron 50 WP (active ingredient concentration 2.5 to 10 %). The effectiveness of treatment with the insecticides ranged from 40 to 90 %, depending on the resistance of the flies in each of the barns or houses treated. The treatment had no adverse effect on the health of the animals and the persons working in the barns. Such treatments are advantageous both economically and ecologically, because the consumption of insecticides is much smaller than with the use of spray, and the contaminants, coming from the insecticides, cannot penetrate into the food chain.
