NEW LEAD-HALIDE-BASED GLASS-FORMING SYSTEMS

摘要
New glass compositions based on PbX(2) (X = Cl, Br or I) have been studied. It was demonstrated that Pbl(2) alone can be converted into the vitreous state and plays the role of a glass-former. A series of binary and ternary system glasses was obtained by incorporating monovalent halides, namely AgI, KCl and KBr. Characteristic temperatures were measured for numereous binary and ternary system glasses. For some glass compositions, there are two transition temperatures attributed certainly to phase separation in glasses, especially for the systems containing AgI. According to the Hruby factors, the mixed halogen anion effect may exist in PbX(2)-based glasses.
