The reaction entropies DELTAS(rc)degrees for the redox reaction of the O2/O2- couple in aprotic solvents have been obtained from the temperature dependence of the formal potential measured using a nonisothermal electrochemical cell. The solvent effect on the values of DELTAS(rc)degrees is discussed in terms of the Born dielectric continuum model and the empirical solvent parameters. A linear decrease in the DELTAS(rc)degrees value with increasing solvent acceptor number was observed, indicating that the orientation of solvent dipoles around O2- is the main factor determining the values of the entropy change and its solvent dependence.
