TRANSLATIONAL ENERGY SPECTROSCOPY OF N+ AND O+ IN COLLISION WITH O2

摘要
High-resolution translation energy spectroscopy has been performed on N+ and O+ ions scattered off O2 molecules. Twenty-one reaction channels have been unambiguously identified, all of which are consistent with the Wigner spin conservation rule. A simple estimate of the ion-beam constitution reveals the presence of significant fractions of the metastable 1D state in the N+ beam and the 2D and 2P states in the O+ beam obtained under our source conditions.
