摘要
Field sanitation was evaluated in Hawaii as a method for reducing infestations of mangoes by the mango weevil, Cryptorhynchus mangiferae (F.). All fallen fruit and seeds from under four isolated mango trees were removed twice each week during the fruiting period. In the following season, mango weevil infestation data from these trees were compared with those of an untreated orchard. Field sanitation did not reduce the incidence of mango weevil because the maximum infestation rates in fruits of all tested trees were greater than from those in the orchard. Evidently, adults can disperse farther than previously thought. © 1990 Taylor and Francis Ltd.
