摘要
The concept of "passive revolution" coined by Antonio Gramsci is a fundamental term when analysing how independence processes unfolded in Latin American countries during the 19th century. The following text cross-references different views and angles presented by different authors on this topic. The intention is not only to challenge Gramsci's concept, but also to understand its depth, breadth and limitations when used to understand and analyse political processes. Part of the text is also dedicated to study the applicability of this notion to similar processes that took place after the 20th century, such as Latin-American populisms, fascism, or what Gramsci called "Americanism". The intention is to shed light on different dimensions of the concept and the possibility of it being translated and applied to different realities.
