Thermal neutron and gamma responses of (LiF)-Li-6/(LiF)-Li-7:Mg,Cu,P TL films have been investigated and the experimental procedure is described in detail. The films consist of a layer of polyimide as substrate, which is able to withstand temperatures up to 240-degrees-C, and a layer of lithium fluoride powder of thickness around 10 mg.cm-2 adhering to the substrate. The characteristics of (LiF)-Li-6/(LiF)-Li-7:Mg,Cu,P films are compared with those of (LiF)-Li-6/(LiF)-Li-7:Mg,Cu,P chips of dimensions 4.5 mm diam. and 0.8 mm thickness. The relative thermal neutron response of (LiF)-Li-6:Mg,Cu,P film was found to be equivalent to 7.41 Gy of Co-60 gamma rays per 10(10)} n.cm-2, while for (LiF)-Li-6:Mg,Cu,P chips the corresponding gamma equivalent was found to be 1.52 Gy. A discussion of possible explanations of the characteristic is given.
