FISHES OF THE LOWER WILLAMETTE RIVER, NEAR PORTLAND, OREGON

We used a variety of gears to collect information on fish species present in the lower Willamette River as part of a study to evaluate the effects of harbor developments on anadromous and resident fish. We identified 39 fish species from 17 families. Nineteen species from seven families were exotic to the Willamette River system. When possible, we described distribution and relative abundance of individual species. Information about fish species present in the lower Willamette River will help fisheries managers assess potential effects of future development options on fish populations based on habitat requirements of fish species present.
