THE OBSERVATION OF RESONANCE IN THE ELECTRON-IMPACT EXCITATION INTENSITIES OF THE INNER-SHELL STATES OF CO2

A resonance structure in the excitation intensities of the (1s(c))-1(2ppi(u)) 1,3PI(u) states in CO2 is observed for incident electron energies near the excitation threshold of these states. The ratio of these excitation intensities shows a resonance structure for incident electrons of 313 eV energy similar to a value reported for the sigma(u) resonance in the photoionization of CO2.
