摘要
Experiments on quench propagation and stability margin have been performed on a NbTi hollow conductor test module allowing heat conduction only between adjacent layers, while the turns in a layer are thermally insulated (2-D winding). Some of the experimental data on heat propagation and stability margin are reported, and the results of two selected runs are compared with the prediction of a 2-D version of the SARUMAN code. It will be shown that the simulation is able to reproduce the general features of the quench propagation experiments, in one case reaching a quantitative agreement. A more detailed and extensive analysis is required to reach conclusive results.
