A field study conducted in rabi seasons of 1983-84 and 1984-85 at the Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar showed that highest seed yield could be obtained by sowing the crop on 30 October followed by 20 November. Closer spacing (20 x 20 cm) produced the highest seed yield than wider spacing of 40 x 20 cm. The fruit (cremocarp) borer infestation was found to be least in 10 and 30 October sown crop while spacing had no effect on infestation.
