摘要
The ITEP 3-meter magnetic spectrometer has been used to measure the angular dependence of the differential cross section for elastic-pi- p scattering at the eight incident-pion momenta 0.905, 1.16, 1.315, 1.45, 1.54, 1.64, 1.83, and 2.03 GeV/c in the interval of angles -1 less-than-or-equal-to cos theta(cms) less-than-or-equal-to -0.2. The new data at most of the measured points are statistically more reliable than the results of other experiments, particularly in the range cos theta(cms) < -0.9. As a rule, there is good agreement with the data of previous experiments and with the predictions of the Karlsruhe-Helsinki 80 and Carnegie-Mellon-Berkeley partial-wave analyses; wherever there are discrepancies between the partial-wave analyses, the new results make it possible to give preference to one of them. The extent to which the experimental data are mutually consistent is discussed. It is proposed to make use of the new results in future partial-wave analyses.
