Between authorities and authoritarianism: Some peasant communities of the Peruvian Andes in front of the agrarian reform and the arrival of Sendero Luminoso (1969-1985)

The article analyses the reactions provoked in some rural communities of the Peruvian Andean departments of Ayacucho and Apurimac by the agrarian reform approved in 1969 by the military government and subsequently by the arrival of Sendero Luminoso. The agrarian reform aroused great expectations, but also new problems, which facilitated the penetration into the communities of the "senderistas", who were initially considered as those who could complete the process of redistribution of the land and punish the abusive notables. However, the level of violence they had been using ended up provoking the reaction of the communities.
