MOSSBAUER EFFECT IN SIMPLE CUBIC LATTICE WITH LINE DEFECT

A theoretical study is made of the Mössbauer effect in simple cubic lattices with a line defect for both the atoms inside and outside the perturbed region. Numerical calculations are made of the changes in the Debye‐Waller factor for a special type of defect (with variation of the mass and force constants along a single atomic row in [001] direction) in the classical approximation together with quantum corrections. Two methods, the high‐temperature expansion and another one which is valid for arbitrary temperatures, are used. A possibility of using graphs for some estimations, especially for the dependence of the quantum correction on the distance of the absorbing atom from the line defect, is suggested.
