摘要
Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen in both community-acquired and nosocomial sepsis. Nasal carriage of S. aureus is an important risk factor for S. aureus infections. Healthcare workers have a high incidence of nasal colonization. The aim of our study was to determine the incidence of nasal S. aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) carriage in Afyon Kocatepe University Hospital. Nasal cultures of 189 hospital staff were taken. In 59 (31.2%) of them nasal carriage of S. aureus was found positive and in 9 (4.8%) of them nasal carriage of MRSA was found positive.
