摘要
This paper explores why successfully conducting BPR remains elusive. It reviews the espoused role of IT in reengineering to illustrate problems that characterise the BPR literature. Using a reconfiguration of the MIT90s model, the paper argues that what appear to be implementation problems are a consequence of conflict between the goals of BPR and the implicit strategic model adopted for it by most authors. A resolution to this dilemma, which affects IT's role in BPR, may be provided by alternate models of strategy and change.
