Informatics, human rights and society: a path for citizenship

This article focuses on the informatization of contemporary society, primarily taking into account its political aspects. Through a deductive method, the text deals with computing as a way to deepen the participatory citizenship. First, it seeks to warn about the consequences at the level of knowledge and power, of this phenomenon present throughout the world. The criticism is directed to managers of information, since the computer, as a tool, not only enables a greater or lesser concentration of knowledge and power by controlling information. Sequentially, the text reflects on the internet as a source of citizenship pledge. Once the simple access to information technology does not guarantee a citizen inclusion, it is essential to education (knowledge) to reflect on the news that you have access through the computer. There is moreover a positive compliment to the presence of computers in different areas, as it can be used as a public space of citizenship, which allows the assertion of identity and struggle for goods and necessities for a dignified life.
