INJECTION-MOLDED STRUCTURAL FOAM - A DESIGNERS PERSPECTIVE

Injection moulded structural foam is a low pressure, melt flow moulding process, which is capable of producing large, complex plastic parts. At the same time, the process is able to eliminate some of the problems associated with other high pressure moulding techniques, such as solid injection moulding. Structural foam moulding was a natural outgrowth of the evolution of the solid injection moulding process. To the casual observer, structural foam moulding machines look like large injection moulding machines, but there are significant differences between the two.
