The Central German Energy Supply Joint-Stock Company (MEAG) is building at present a combined heat and power station in Halle-Trotha, which has been planned as a combined gas and steam turbine plant for the generation of electricity and district heat. It is to replace the Combined Heat and Power Station ''Rudolf Breitscheid'' (Heizkraftwerk ''Rudolf Breitscheid''), which has served for nearly 30 years mainly as supplier of district heat to 18000 dwellings and adjacent industrial and commercial areas.
