TEM CRYSTAL AND DEFECT STRUCTURE STUDY OF MARTENSITE IN LASER CLAD NI-AL BRONZE

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) weak beam (WB) image technique and high resolution electron microscopy (HREM) are used to investigate the crystal structure and defect structure of sheet martensite in laser clad Ni-Al bronze. First the morphology and displacement vectors of the dislocations and stacking faults are investigated by WB image technique. Contrast experiments show that the dislocations and stacking faults he on (0001) planes. HREM reveals that close packed 9-layer stacking ABCBCACAB is predominant. 11-layer stacking ABCBCACABAB is observed in some specific regions. In some local region the stacking is neither 9-layer nor 11-layer but a random stacking.
