EFFECT OF SPRING FOLIAR SPRAY OF NITROGEN FERTILIZER ON GROWTH OF SOME VARIETIES OF JUJUBE CULTIVARS (ZIZYPHUS SP.)

摘要
This study was conducted at College of Agriculture, Abu-Ghraib,during the spring season of 2002 to study the effect of three levels of urea solutions (0, 10,20 g/L.) (46% N) on five cultivars of one year old Jujube transplants in factorial experiment using RCBD with three replicates. The results showed that Zaituny cultivar had highest values for stem length and mean leaf area (35.66 cm(2) and 12.50 cm(2)), respectively. Tuffahy cultivar had the highest values for branches angle and dry matter percent in leaves ((0)44.0 and 37.35%) subsequently. Bathry cultivar had a significant effect on each of stem diameter, number and length of branches, number of leaves, total leaves area, number and length of thorn (0.47 mm, 10.73, 85.76 cm(2), 88.60, 332.61 cm(2), 23.66 thorns, 1.43 cm(2)), respectively. Treatment with 20 gIL urea showed significant increases in length and diameter of main stem, number and length of branches, number of leaves leaf area, total leaves area, number and length of thorn, dry matter of leaves (33.88 cm(2), 0.44 mm, 5.66 branches, 44.00 cm(2), 48.80 leaves, 11.27 cm(2), 474.13 cm(2), 19.80 thorn, 0.86 cm(2) and 35.54%) compared with control treatment (29.20 cm(2), 0.27 mm, 4.98 branches, 34.94 cm(2), 38.60 leaves, 5.96 cm(2), 189.79 cm(2),13.60 thorns, 0.56 cm(2) and 28.78%), respectively. The interaction between varieties and urea levels showed that Zaituny cultivar had highest values for main stem length and mean leaf area (38.00 and 14.9 cm(2)) with 20 g urea / L. In the same level of urea the Bathry cultivar had highest value for main stem diameter, number and branches length, number of leaves (0.58 mm, 11.00 branches 90.00 cm(2), 91.00 leavesi, subsequently. Tuffahy had highest values for branches angle and total leaves area ((o)50.0 and 542.84 cm(2)), respectively when sprayed with 20 g / L urea solution.
