STATISTICAL DESCRIPTION OF STRONG TURBULENCE DISTRIBUTIONS

摘要
Several experiments have observed an exponential distribution in both electric field E and time t for the probability distribution of strongly turbulent Langmuir fields, P(E, t). To explain these statistics, instead of assuming a dynamical picture, one can work backward from the observed statistical P(E, t) to find implied characteristics of underlying interactions. A general Fokker-Planck treatment of P(E, t) time evolution suggests that the interactions are nearly ''elastic'' in E. This significantly constrains the basic interactions.
