STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF GAMMA-IRRADIATION ON THE EMISSION-SPECTRA OF POLY(METHYLMETHACRYLATE) DOPED WITH RHODAMINE DYES

摘要
The emission spectra of irradiated and non-irradiated thin films of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrices containing rhodamine B (RhB) or rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) as donors and chloranil (CA) as acceptor, have been investigated. A single radiophotoluminescence peak was recorded around 570 nm. The maximum fluorescence intensity was found to be at a doping concentration ratio of 6 : 4, acceptor: donor. The materials investigated, particularly Rh6G-CA, proved to be sensitive in absorbing UV light and re-emitting in the visible region, and hence, could be used as a luminescent concentrator for solar cells. Such materials may also find a useful field of application in radiation dose assessment.
