SPECIFIC-HEAT INVESTIGATION OF THE GLASS-TRANSITION AND CRYSTALLIZATION OF AMORPHOUS NIZR2 USING LOW HEATING RATES

A refined method of Cp measurement is applied for the investigation of relaxation, glass transition and crystallization of the amorphous Ni34Zr66 alloy. This method is based upon stepwise heating; the step length amounted to 1 - 5 K. The advantage of this method is that very low heating rates in comparison to the conventional DSC method can be applied. A pronounced endothermic peak was found at the temperature of glass transition. The Kissinger method was carried out in order to determine the activation energies of glass transition and crystallization in the range of 0.3125 to 80 K min-1. © 1990.
