摘要
There are many advances being made in technologies for satellite telecommunications. The main goals are improved performance to comply with existing and evolving standards; more capacity with existing and planned resources; increased connectivities for several types of users; reconfigurability to different and changing traffic scenarios; and better availability of the services to meet user expectations. For bus technologies, significant goals are lower-mass of non-payload systems and longer life in useful orbits. INTELSAT and its Signatories are making major advancements in the ground segment: preparing satellite-friendly architectures and protocols for ISDN, B-ISDN, SDH and ATM; more efficient modulation with FEC coding; advanced TDMA systems and enhanced VSAT networks. In preparation for future payloads, INTELSAT has developed several on-board processing (OBP) techniques, including Satellite-Switched TDMA (SS-TDMA), Satellite-Switched FDMA (SS-FDMA), several Modulators / Demodulators (Modem),
