This paper examines the economic determinants of fisheries exploitation and looks at the factors which can lead to a fishing ground becoming overfished. In the first section, the biological and economic conflict over efficiency and the way in which this can result in overfishing is examined. In the second, the internal economic conflict that can lead to further resource‐use pressure is considered. This is followed by a discussion on why overfishing occurs and in the final section, proposals for improved fishery management are made. SUREXPLOITATION ET ANALYSE éCONOMIQUE DE LA PĚCHE Cet article examine les facteurs économiques déterminants de l'exploitation de la pěche, en s'arrětant sur les éléments susceptibles de conduire à la surexploitation des territoires dépěche. La première section est consacrée au conflit biologique et économique qui confronte les entreprises dans leurs objectifs de rentabilité et aux risques de pěche excessive auxquels cela peut mener. La deuxième section porte sur le conflit économique intérieur qui risque de peser encore plus fortement sur l'emploi des ressources. Finalement, l'article analyse les raisons qui provoquent la surexploitation et, dans la dernière section, il propose des solutions pour perfectionner la gestion des entreprises dépěche. ZU VIEL FISCHFANG ‐ EINE WIRTSCHAFTLICHE ANALYSE Dieser Artikel untersucht die wirtschaftlichen Bestimmungsfaktoren der Ausbeutung von Fischgriinden und betrachtet die Faktoren, die dazu flihren kǒnnen, dass in einem Gebiet zu viel gefischt wird. Im ersten Teil wird der biologische und wirtschaftliche Konflikt zwischen dem Nutzeffekt und der Art, wie dies zu viel Fischfang zur Folge haben kann, untersucht. Im zweiten Teil wird der interne wirtschaftliche Konflikt betrachtet, der zu weiterem Druck auf die Ressourcenausnǔtzung fǔhren kann.
