In this article it is proposed as objective to analyze since the perspective as a teacher, the processes of institutional performance by students of undergraduate in the curriculum unit of Professional Internship, at the School of Social Work at the University of Zulia, Venezuela, in the area of public health, specifically in the quality of patient care. To approach this goal a descriptive analysis is used supported by curricular documents, internship reports, bibliographic documents and also is considered the experience acquired as a teacher. The categories of analysis of this experience are located on the actions taken by students at the Autonomous University Hospital Service of Maracaibo Zulia-Venezuela, academic guidelines established in the curriculum structure running (2000) as well as the strengths and limitations of students in the institutional environment during the process of professional internships. It is concluded that in the context of public management quality of care and interventions aimed at user satisfaction is a broad field of multidisciplinaria performance where students and graduates of schools of training of social workers have important academic and professional challenges the problematic context of public health.
