COMPLEX MAGNETIC ORDER OF NONSTOICHIOMETRIC TBDX (X ALMOST-EQUAL-TO 2) STUDIED BY NEUTRON-DIFFRACTION

摘要
Neutron diffraction results for TbD1.98 and TbD2.00 are reported. The antiferromagnetic long-range ordering occurs in two steps, at TN(I) = 35 K with moments perpendicular to the c-axis and at TN(II) = 27 K, where the z-component of the Tb-ions order in a sinusoidal modelated structure along the c-axis. The result is a complex antiferromagnetic structure with a z-component of the ordered moment of (5.8 ± 0.2) μB/Tb3+ at 10 K. Antiferromagnetic short-range order is super-imposed. © 1979.
