摘要
PSK homodyne detection requires very narrow spectral linewidth light sources. For future applications, it is important to achieve phase lock operation with broader linewidth laser diodes. Costas loops with broad bandwidths can tolerate a broader linewidth requirement than other loops. Costas loop operation (≈ = 3.8 Mrad/s) is demonstrated by 5 Gb/s PSK homodyne detection, using 80 kHz beat linewidth external cavity laser diodes, and a receive sensitivity of 93 photon/bit is experimentally obtained. © 1990 IEEE
