Introduction: in this article the correlation between the restoration of violated rights as a principle of civil law, the purpose and method of protection of civil rights. Purpose: the author analyzes the relation of these categories for the correct understanding of each of them. Methods: the methodological basis of this study is a set of methods of scientific cognition, among which the leading role is the dialectical method. This article uses scientific (dialectics, analysis and synthesis, abstraction and concretization) and private scientific research methods (formal-legal, comparative legal, technical and legal). Results: the ratio of the target (result) protection of civil rights and protection of civil rights, the author proposes to consider as the dependence of the choice of remedy against specific objectives (results); the author proves independence restore the situation that existed before the violation of rights, as a method of protection of civil rights, highlights and formulates the basic criteria for the use of the analyzed remedy, including the availability and legality of the provisions which authorized the person wants to recover, the violation of the former provisions, the existence of the infringed rights, the possibility of a real recovery by eliminating the consequences of misconduct. Conclusions: restoration of violated rights, should be considered in three aspects: as the principle of protection of civil rights, which means among other things the need, the necessity of restoration of violated rights; as one of the goals of protection of civil rights, along with the suppression, prevention, and elimination of violations of the right and others; and also as a way of protection of civil rights.
