A mathematical model of treating filter cakes on plane pressure filters in a multistage process of the type: (washing-reslurrying)-M-washing has been presented. By using the model, minimum amount of wash liquor required for various solute recovery ratios, V(min), has been evaluated. Number of stages of reslurrying corresponding to the V(min) has been calculated. Booth methods of treating the filter cakes have been compared.
