摘要：

This article explores the influence of liberal and republican ideas on the concept of citizenship. It is argued that while content and practice has often veered between the two philosophies - and a greater emphasis upon either the individual or society - the article suggests that we can gain a clearer understanding of the more recent history of citizenship by viewing the concept through Ikeda's ( 2004) regimes of accumulation. In particular, it is argued that the most recent stage of capitalism has appropriated a particular form of liberalism, separating the individual from a collective notion of citizenship that is rooted in society.
