The photography, seen as social practice, dialogues with the fifteen year old birthday parties as a ritual of turning from a girl to a woman. This fact, among other things, is crucial in the remembrance process of the event. The main issue in this article is the relation between photography and memory, so for this reason, some reflections regarding theory from different fields of knowledge emphasizing on the insertion of photographic image in the tension among memory with archive and memory with action. Thus, this work shows an analysis regarding how the fifteen year old birthday party pictures are used by four families, as an archive (to keep memories), and as action (to activate intergenerational and the family memory). Finally, this article presents some conclusions regarding the discussion that is presented in this paper.
