A study has been made of the coagulation of viscous drops in a turbulent flow of a liquid with a different viscosity, on the basis of a model of turbulent diffusion with an accounting for the forces of hydrodynamic resistance, molecular attraction, and electrostatic repulsion, with relative motion of the drops in a field of turbulent pulsations. The drop coagulation frequency and the emulsion stability factor have been determined, and an analysis has been made of the influence of dimensionless parameters characterizing the drop dimensions, the viscosities of the internal and external liquid phases, the molecular and electrostatic interaction of the drops, electromagnetic retardation of molecular interaction, and the surface potentials of the coagulating drops. The condition for transition of slow coagulation into fast coagulation has been analyzed.
