Tooth germs from newborn Lewis rats were transplanted to adult (Lewis X BN) F2 hybrids serotyped for the alleles of the major histocompatibility system. A significant correlation was found between serotyping and graft rejection. Compatibility between the tooth germ donor and the host with respect to the H-1 system was a necessary but not entirely sufficient condition for the progressive growth of the graft. © 1968 by The Williams and Wilkins Co.
