摘要
The increasing interest in video services is giving a new push for a network able to satisfy broadband services demand: the Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network directed to the support of a wide range of services in the same universal network. This network uses the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) based on the concept of packet transmission which enables variable bit rate information flows. The application of the variable bit rate capability to video coding opened new horizons to video communications among which the constant quality video coding assumes particular interest. This paper deals with the cell loss phenomenon which is a kind of degradation of information typical of ATM environments, and presents some cell loss recovering techniques as well as simulation results for video communications.
