APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THE SOLUBILITY OF GASES IN LIQUIDS

A simple apparatus and method for the measurement of absorption of gases in liquids is described. The apparatus operates by the differential method which permits the elimination of the error caused by the volatility of the liquid measured and the temperature difference between the absorption vessel and the burette serving for measuring the volume of the absorbed gas. The proposed apparatus is of simple construction. It does not require a saturation vessel and except for the measuring vessel the other parts of the apparatus do not need to be kept at constant temperature. The apparatus may also be used for the observation of slower reactions of the gas-liquid type.
