DIELECTRIC SCREENING OF COULOMB INTERACTIONS IN POLYMERS

摘要：
A formula is presented for the treatment of the effective electrostatic interaction energy between charges in a polymeric material. The result of a many-electron perturbation-theoretic analysis suggests that a reasonable approximation to the effective interaction is given by reducing the bare interaction by a factor equal to the reciprocal of the macroscopic dielectric constant. A more precise result is given in terms of a spatially varying screening function.
