摘要：

The domestic and foreign policy of Hugh IV Lusignan analyzed in the article shows that this crusader king was not only the keeper of the medieval traditions and virtues as an "ideal crusaden" of the Later Middle Ages, but at the same time a refined intellectual of the nascent humanistic epoch. He was one of the first European monarchs who understood that education and enlightenment were necessary to raise the political authority and weight of the king on Cyprus and abroad.
