In eight patients aged 6-15 years with ulcerative colitis [7] or familial polyposis coli [1] a restorative proctocolectomy was performed with an ileal J-pouch stapled to the anorectal junction. The ileoanal anastomosis was performed after perirectal dissection and rectal eversion through the anus. There were no postoperative complications and the clinical and functional outcome was satisfactory.
