摘要
IPv6 and NGN (next generation network) have the abilities to ensure the substantial growth of EPDM network, providing more comprehensive services and boosting the development of net applications. China Next Generation Internet (CNGI) has sponsored the initial experiment of IPv6 network construction and application in the field of Earthquake Preparedness and Disaster Mitigation (EPDM), which is known as seismic sensors network experiments based on IPv6. High-speed growth of EPDM network will create the demand for upgrade or integration of infrastructural facilities such as channel bandwidth, routing and exchange capacity and network server capacity. The development of net applications of EPDM in the IPv6 and NGN environment could be mainly divide into two categories. One is new applications arising from creative demands, concepts and technologies, and the second one is the implementation of existing concepts and the expansion of current use with new platform. The complete deployment of IPv6 and NGN in the EPDM domain will take a long time period.
