摘要
This paper, on one hand, explores the relationship between energy and, on the other hand, examines the impact of energy consumption on output (GDP). Using data for India for the period 1957-1980, a simultaneous equation system is estimated. The statistical results reveal that the short-run price elasticity of energy in India is higher than in industrialized countries. However, in the Indian economy, the impact of additional energy on output is smaller compared to developed countries.
