A historical synthesis for the critiques of the Christian authors (Tertulian, Ciprian, Firmicus Maternus) to the sports competitions and the gladiators' spectacles that were celebrated in the roman empire during the first centuries of our age, with a special attention to the actors of the plays, the races of the circus and the gladiators' fights in the amphitheatre.
