摘要：

Municipalities are the public corporations which provide the common needs of the city dwellers. The municipality council, elected via general ballot, is the decision-making body of the municipality. Assignment of the decision board through the elections is based on the idea that more effective representation can be achieved via elections. However the development level of a city affects the local politics and the local representation. In this paper, we deal with the problematic of the local representation by comparing the sex, age, political preference, profession, education and marital status of the members of the municipality council with the dwellers of provincial center of Sanliurfa.
