摘要：

An integrated pest management system is presented for planted forests of Eucalyptus spp. located in the north of Espirito Santo State and on the south coast of Bahia State, Brazil. The essential components of the system (environmental stability, preventative control and operational optimisation) are discussed. Widely contrasting management systems are detailed for defoliator caterpillars and for leaf-cutting ants. The first system is determined by the need for control using systemic insecticides while the second results from the large biodiversity of insects in the region.
